Walking the sea walls
The journey through Lincolnshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk was characterised by long, captivating walks along the sea walls around the Wash. These stretches offered a unique perspective of the English coastline, a testament to both nature's raw power and human ingenuity in shaping the land.

Estuaries and the Essex coast
Continuing the adventure, the path led through numerous inlets and estuaries, each presenting its own distinct beauty and challenge. Finally, the last county, Essex, opened up, leading to Southend-on-Sea and the grand finale: the walk up the Thames Estuary, heading triumphantly back to London and the iconic St. Paul's Cathedral.

The culmination of a decade
Reaching London marked the culmination of 10 months of continuous walking. Three pairs of boots had been worn out, and at Southend, I changed into my 33rd and 34th pair of socks! The feeling was a mix of exhaustion and relief, but also a profound sadness that such an incredible journey was coming to a close. This stage truly encapsulates the perseverance and emotional depth of the entire coastal walk.

Notes
Basically I averaged 26 miles a day, many days walking more than 30 miles a day. At 3,000 miles I unkowningly suffered a stress fracture in a my right foot. I walked on and did 300 miles before it got to painfull. I had no option but to have my right leg in plaster, to immoblise me. I stated at the beginning if anything happened I would stay where I was and recover. This is what I did. Contary to doctors advice, once out of plaster climbed a munroe a day for a week. On the 7th day I say the doctor/specialist and told him I was setting off again the next morning. He had advised that maybe I could walk 3 miles a day and maybe set off again in two months! I admits, as my daily mileage shows, I did 10 or more miles a day for 6 weeks before doing more than 20 miles a day and soon back to 30 plus a day. I simply walked my foot back into walking order! Overall I walked a marathon a day! with 50lbs on my back, in all weathers - wind, rain, snow and hot sun and no rest days!
Back in London and about to go to a press conference after the walk.
My partially eaten cake at the end of the walk! I ate the rest the next dat!!!
